What are Ballet exams? -

Ballet exams are a test that ballet students can take where they will receive a grade, and if they pass will receive a certificate and a medal.

The students will spend around 1 year preparing for their exam, learning set exercises that the RAD have created.

When the teacher decides the students are ready to take the exam they will go to an exam center, or the examiner will come to their own studio. The students enter the exam room without the teacher and perform the dances they have worked on an practiced in front of an RAD examiner. The examiner marks them on criteria such as technique, performance, musicality and recall. The students will receive a mark in the following couple of months. If the student is successful in passing the exam, then they move up to the next level.

Why is it important to do Royal Academy of Dance ballet exams? -

1) Exams are an opportunity for students to perform in front of an examiner, and celebrate their progress.

2) They are a goal to work towards, alongside other dancing objectives.

3) They are a globally recognized qualification.
